Fall-Winter 2018 Early Childhood Workshops

Register now for Fall-Winter 2018 early childhood workshops hosted at the Center for Jewish Education, in partnership with the Baltimore City Child Care Resource Center (BCCCRC). Early childhood educators will learn, connect and collaborate with their colleagues in these engaging workshops. All workshops are MSDE-approved. Anti-Bias Cultural Competence Awareness
Everyone has a cultural, ethnic, racial, linguistic and/or religious heritage that influences their beliefs, values and behaviors.   Creating culturally competent programs that are responsive to the staff members, community and families served can reduce possible conflicts and provide multiple benefits for everyone. Participants will identify and develop strategies to promote cultural competence.

Successful Relationships Begin with You (NEW)
Why are relationships so important? Think about how often you are able to give one on one attention to a child and what that means to them. In this class you will learn how to embed social interactions for children into their day. Discover strategies to teach social skills and how to develop safe secure relationships with the children in your care.

A Play on Literacy
In this workshop discussion will center on the literacy developmental milestones for ages 6 months through 5 years. It is an in depth training on how to implement literacy into the classroom environment for more meaningful activities, and how to assess children’s literacy development. It also includes information on how to implement adaptions for children with disabilities.

Healthy Children through Nutrition and Physical Activity (NEW)
Our nation's children are at risk for being the first generation that may have a shorter life span than their parents due to poor nutrition and lack of physical activity.  This training will help child care teachers be better informed about food choices, how to prepare a balanced, healthy menu, and creative movement activities to do throughout the day to increase the physical fitness levels of children in their care.  Appropriate for preschool and school age programs.
