Early childhood education lays the foundation for the rest of a child’s life. This critical learning time period is ripe with opportunity and Jewish Educational Services provides support to educators in order to help them maximize their impact.

In addition to an outstanding collection of books and materials for educators to use for research and learning, JES offers a wide variety of professional development programming.

Early Childhood Educator Community of Practice (CoP)

JES provides an monthly CoP for Early Childhood Directors on select topics in educational leadership.

Early Childhood Conference

The annual early childhood educators conference offers educators CoK hours to study with their colleagues from across the many schools in the system. In 2023, 275 educators attended the conference focusing on creating environments that help children, families and colleagues thrive.

Maryland EXCELS (QRIS)

JES works with schools to navigate the Maryland EXCELS program, a voluntary state program that recognizes excellence in child care centers and preschools.

Maryland Childcare Credential Program

The Maryland Childcare Credential Program recognizes child care providers who go beyond the requirements of State licensing and registration regulations. The program provides stipends of up to $1,000 per year plus full college tuition toward any level degree in early childhood education. Additionally, the credential program provides up to $400 per year toward other related professional development opportunities.

BCCCRC Partnership

JES has a partnership with BCCCRC to provide ongoing workshops and opportunities for all early childhood educators who would like to attend trainings that are in the local area around JES.

Workshops

Register for early childhood workshops hosted at the Center for Jewish Education, in partnership with the Baltimore City Child Care Resource Center (BCCCRC). Early childhood educators will learn, connect and collaborate with their colleagues in these engaging workshops. All workshops are MSDE-approved. Registration is through BCCCRC’s website.
