CJE offers teacher training in a wide-variety of subject areas throughout the year. Programs can take place at our site in Upper Park Heights or at other venues throughout the Greater Baltimore area.

Please note: All workshops are categorized by target audience and subject.

Teachers are one of the primary resources for families with young children. Begin a conversation about your role as connector for families with children ages 0-5. Learn about your interpersonal skills and how to use your strengths to develop relationships with all types of families.

July 11           10:00AM–4:30PM         Teaching Clay to Children    $20         
Dress for messy work. Session covers theory, exploration and hands-on work with clay! 

July 18           10:00AM—1:00PM       Oh, What A Beautiful Web We Weave: Storytelling   $15
Learn the art of sharing stories with children.  We will look at ways to find great  stories, create props and share our passion for storytelling.

July 18            1:30PM—4:30PM         Big Shots  $15
Make the most of those candid shots in your classroom.  Tips on lighting, composition,
photo-editing, documentation, plus time to practice with a pro.  Must bring a camera or other electronic photo taking device.

July 25            10:00AM—1:00PM       From Fleece to Yarn   $15
Learn the steps of yarn making so you can teach it to your children.  We begin with fleece that we spin and dye.  You’ll get to take home a spinner and some beautiful yarn!

July 25             1:30PM— 4:30PM        Weaves and Looms Make Rugs, Oh My!   $15
Can’t wait to use that yarn you made?  Join us as we make some looms and learn about different ways to weave.  This is a perfect activity to introduce to you classroom.

August 1         10:00AM–1:00PM           Make and Take Light Boxes   $30
Yep, you read that right. We will be making light boxes for our classrooms, and creating materials to use with them.  Note:  Due to materials fees, this class is $30

August 1          1:30PM—4:30PM            From Metals to Masks    $15
Learn the fine art of tinkering during our Metals to Masks session!   We will be taking apart  used electronics to make beautiful creations.  Learn how to apply this exciting experience in your classrooms!
