“STAR” CJE STAFFER
DJ Schneider Jensen

SKILLS TO ACHIEVE RESULTS (STAR) is a new initiative of the Darrell Friedman Institute for Professional Development. This program helps address the needs of current Jewish communal professionals working in agencies and organizations who wish to advance their skills within a Jewish context, and to address the more global need for Jewish communal professionals to remain in the field.

Communication Plus, the workshop series of the STAR program, was held last fall, thanks to a grant from the Hilda and Jacob Blaustein Fund for the Enrichment of Jewish Education of THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. The series was held for eight consecutive weeks for a select group of 20 professionals newer to the field. These professionals had been nominated by their supervisors or executives at their respective agency, organization, or synagogue.

DJ Schneider-Jensen, CJE’s director of Early Childhood Education, was among the 20 professionals selected.

The workshops focused on speaking and writing skills, applying them to the lay and professional relationship within a Jewish context. It is our hope that Jewish values will inform and enhance the work professionals do, and that along with collegial support, they will view the field as an opportunity for a long-term career.

Kol HaKavod to DJ on being selected for STAR. We already knew she was a star—now everyone knows it!
