ECE CONFERENCE

If preschools were created by the children, the rooms would be organized a little bit differently. In addition to the block center, library and crafts area, there would be a place for family members. They would just be sitting there, ready to care for the needs of the child as he or she deemed necessary. To a young child, there is nothing more natural than having everything he loves in one room all day long. To include family in the preschool would be a priority.

The Early Childhood Professionals Conference, on March 6 at CJE, acknowledges this specific need of young children. Themed Educating the Whole Family, the conference will look at family connections, communication and social/emotional experiences—to complete the circle of school-family-child dynamics.

Every year, more than 300 early childhood educators from Baltimore and surrounding counties come together for one day devoted to professional development. This year’s conference will include dynamic family educators and preschool professionals, more than 20 different vendors, a silent auction and basket display. For the second year, these generous Baltimore preschool educators will raise money to give to early childhood programs in Ashkelon, Baltimore’s sister city in Israel.
